Description
Eickhoff Shearer Planetary Gear Carrier Product Overview
This product is the core load-bearing and positioning component of the German Eickhoff coal mining machine planetary gear reducer—the planetary carrier. In the planetary mechanism of the cutting or traction section of the coal mining machine, the planetary carrier acts as the “skeleton,” its function being to precisely fix multiple planetary gear shafts via support plates on both sides (or an integral frame), ensuring a stable meshing relationship between all planetary gears and the sun gear and internal ring gear, and efficiently outputting the revolution torque of the planetary gears. Its structural strength, rigidity, and the positional accuracy of the bearing holes directly determine the load-bearing capacity, lifespan, and stability of the entire planetary transmission system.
Technical Features and Manufacturing Process
High-strength Materials: Utilizing high-strength alloy structural steel such as 42CrMo and 34CrNiMo6, the integral forged blank ensures continuous material flow lines, superior mechanical properties compared to castings, and extremely high fatigue strength.
Precision Machining: Utilizing advanced equipment such as five-axis machining centers for integrated machining, ensuring the parallelism and flatness of the support plates on both sides, as well as the positional and coaxiality of each planetary gear shaft hole, achieve micron-level precision (typically requiring tolerances within 0.02mm).
Key Component Reinforcement: Surface hardening or nitriding treatment is applied to the planetary gear shaft holes or bushing mounting areas to improve their wear resistance and anti-galling capabilities.
Dynamic Balancing: For high-speed planetary carriers, rigorous dynamic balancing tests and calibrations are performed before shipment to reduce vibration and noise at high speeds.
Failure Modes and Replacement Timing
Common Damage Forms:
Planetary Gear Shaft Hole Wear: Leads to misalignment of planetary gears, deterioration of meshing, and abnormal noise and vibration.
Support Plate Cracks or Fractures: Caused by overload impact, material defects, or fatigue accumulation; a serious failure.
Bearing Mounting Area Wear: Affects the positioning accuracy of the output shaft.
Replacement Warning Signs:
Severe and continuous abnormal noise and vibration occur inside the gearbox.
Numerous copper shavings (from the bearings) and iron filings were found in the lubricating oil.
The equipment’s output torque decreased or intermittent jamming occurred.
During routine overhaul disassembly and inspection, the aforementioned visible cracks or severe wear were discovered.
Service and Technical Support
We not only provide standard planetary carriers that are completely identical to Eickhoff’s original designs, but also possess strong capabilities for custom-made, repair, and remanufacturing based on drawings. Regardless of the age of your equipment model, as long as you provide the part number, clear drawings, or the damaged part, we can accurately replicate or repair it. For critical dimensions, we provide third-party inspection reports.
